Nice try, he's played for atleast 4 years online, and he played a bunch offline before that. You wouldn't know that because he was playing before you arrived on the scene.
If Shio was to play this map on a daily basis for minimum of 4 hours a day for HALF A YEAR then he would obliterate that time.

That's what i meant ... engine is main power and games like Urban Terror, OA r made on same basis.
Yes sv_pure disable all additional pk3 files or it just allow the files that server contain itself ... (but some people avoided it on other mods)

dfengine need some Q3A basic files like models & default.cfg.
I think the only stuff what crashes the engine is the missing default.cfg and the Sarge model.
engine is already satisfied if default.cfg contains even only one comment line and for the model, just needs "Models/players/sarge" directory... no matter what model you place in there...
all other things will not crash the engine, just seein a lot of grey-white missing textures things :D

never tried dfe but in iodfe you can set com_basegame to defrag and then theres no baseq3 "needed", even the online servers dont care.... maybe only when theyre set to sv_pure 1 not sure. you can put any replacement files directly in defrag directory then. the new engine iDFe doesnt care about the original files too, just gives a note, when something doesnt seem to be original.
however, im working on those repaks where all maps are repacked, based on fms paks...
additionally working on a replacement pk3, already fully working, just not fully replacements yet.

dfengine need some Q3A basic files like models & default.cfg. You can not use the main OA pak only but you can merge OA data in a homemade Q3A custom pak.
Example for re-modding a plasmagun model from OA:
-Create the file Q3Adefragzzz_lameMod.pk3
-Find the plasmagun md3 file in PAK0 of OA and copy it to the same location (but in your zzz_lameMod.pk3)
Example:
OpenArenaBaseoaOApak0.pk3modelsplasma...idk.md3 -> Copy it to Q3Adefragzzz_lameMod.pk3modelsweapons2plasmaplasma.md3

Did you try to rename main openarena file and put that to baseq3? I only tried adding pak files to baseq3 and it replaced most (maybe all don't remember) graphic textures on maps. Never tried replacing it ... for sure pure server would block it entirely.
The defrag community is friendly and helpful with some exceptions as you can see...

1. Quake 3 Arena
Quake 3 is available on Steam and thats the "official" way to get it, but basically you just need pak0.pk3 + q3pointrelease 1.32 + dfengine to play
If you don't wanto buy q3 on steam, you can find pak0.pk3 with google if you know some google-fu :P
After downloading pak0.pk3, create the folder where you want to have q3 installed, like D:Quake3.
Create folder "baseq3" in D:Quake3 and place "pak0.pk3" in it
Install q3pointrelease
2. Defrag client
It's an exe file created specifically to play defrag. Download iDFe here OR download dfengine here. iDFe is the newest/supported client. I recommend it.
3. Defrag
Download the mod here.
Extract the "defrag" folder into you Quake3Arean installation directory.
3. Play
Thats a very rough tutorial. If you have a any questions, join you defrag discord server or consult the Wiki.
The defrag community is friendly and helpful with some exceptions as you can see...
