Some people requested a more structured pinboard. Since we where in need of a forum only for administrative purpose we decided on a phpbb based forum.
From now on the Pinboard is replaced with a fully featured forum for you to spa... er contribute suggestions. You don't have to create accounts. Just use your existing accounts from the mDd site.
We also appointed some Moderators.

I have simply no desire to develop the ELO code any further.
I hate it and the project is not that much of a gain for the community. It was a spontaneous descision but i guess i have been carrying it around for quite a while. So here it is...
Any complains?
UPDATE: I assigned the ELO development to netwalker. He will do it from scratch in JAVA. So it's going to be a static version that updates every now and then.

We once again started the server. This time with a new binary, though. The unexpected crashing server problem forced us to pre release the next version of the server binary. Since it's not developed completely it has a certain lack of features.
You are able to set records, but you won't get feedback from the server telling you you just set a time. The times wont appear on the website, too. Instead they are written into a queue which we will import into the database when the new recordsystem is released.
Again:
If you set a time you wont get a message from the server but the time will be saved.
Please be patient.

This weekend we will switch to a new serverprovider as some of you may have noticed already. The defrag servers located at 85.25.20.179(mDd server) will be down this weekend until the new one is set up. So please be patient if you can't connect to the mDd server or set any record on other servers. It will be up again in no time.

mDd will change the server provider, due to connection problems. As you may have noticed the mDd server(85.25.20.179) running the database is down from time to time. We will change the provider to fix this issue. We got our hands on a server located at "hetzner" which is one of our candidates for the new server.
Long story short, we want you to test the new server we set up at hetzner.
We strongly recommend to tell us if the ping is better or worse than on mDd(85.25.20.179).

I moved the cpm run II to my root-server. Since my box is really low on memory i had to sacrifice one of the freestyle servers. So i merged the cpm Freestyle and the vq3 Freestyle into a single one.
The ports didn't change but ill post them again.

Description of common options:

[physic.mode] limit by physics (vq3, cpm, vq3.2, cpm.1 ...)

Since i am playing quake i always prefered the blue team. Unfortunately some CTF maps aren't symetric and the red route is sometimes shorter. Some maps have a cool and challenging route but the plain one on the other team is just faster.
I don't like that. So how about saving the team in the CTF records as well? You could run the map on both routes and still be the fastest.
There are not that many CTF maps out there. So it couldn't hurt playing the other routes, too.

Please, enjoy the now lagcheat free environment. :)
There may be maps with lagged times. If you stumble upon one of these maps, please tell us. We will reset them so everybody has an equal chance of being the best player.

It will not is not running a record system and is only there so you can built your own opinion about the new version. You should also give cgg some feedback at http://cggdev.org/. You don't need to download the new version your self, though. The old and the new version are compatible.

You may have noticed the problems for some people to log in since the last update of the system. This is due to a server internal change of the command parser which doesn't allow the characters
:, *, ?, ", <, >, ; within a namestring (filename issues on windows).
To fix this we change the name policy. Now only the following characters are allowed within a account name:
letters (a to z and A to Z)
numbers (0-9)
. (period), _, -
This means about 20 users have invalid usernames. These users may just use their old accountname without the forbidden characters.
example:
#m00! becomes m00
w.T-$n@ck? becomes w.T-nck or
<hk> becomes hk
There are some users who only have forbidden chars in their names. These users should email me. Notice that the accountname is not visible to anyone. It's only your accountname, so you can log in. So you shouldn't put any colors in the accountname, since you can't type them into the quake3 console on windows anyway.
[?], [@], Ruined, nL-Mystery and Not_Installed
should write a email to us, because they have to pick a completely new accountname.
I am sorry for the complications.

We rebuilt the entire command system. It is now way more flexible. Type !help !<commandname> for a usage description.

The !oldtop command is implemented again.
!oldtop [map] [physic.mode] [show]
examples:
If you type !oldtop without any parametes, it will print the top10 of the current map at the current physic.
!oldtop vq3 will display the top10 of this map in vq3 to you.
!oldtop cpm.2 show will display the top10 of the current map in cpm mode 2 for everyone on the server.
!top [map] [physic.mode] [show]
the same as !oldtop
!time [nick] [map] [physic.mode]
!rank <number>
You have to put the number of a rank here.
It will display the player on the given rank to everyone on the server.
!random [count]
displays some random mapnames. You can specify the number of maps shown by adding a number up to 10.
!mytime [map] [physic.mode]
displays the best time you scored on this map .
please note that you now can login via !login <username> <password> too from
-> In all commands you don't have to care about the order of the commands. They will work anyway.
!top show pplasma3 cpm.2 will work too.

-> You may have noticed the servers got pretty unstable a few weeks ago. That was due to a mass test of a new way of coding (we can load code dynamically at runtime). Now everything is stable again. :)

Since people keep asking us about it we made up some rules for all servers connected to the record database.
1) No scripts which cause the player to have sudden packetloss (lagscript) are allowed. Especally if they enable the player to skip or delay trigger activation.
2) No scripts which automate movements or combine movements with weapon usage are allowed. (like: ob-script, rocket-/plasmajump-scripts, mwheel-script, turnspeed-script).
We consider binding more than one function to a key a script also.
3) Players have to adjust their netsettings to get the lowest ping delay possible.
4) Be polite, talk english preferably, respect others.
If something is not forbidden you shouldn't think it is allowed. You shouldn't use it anyway.

due to triggerlagging.
also Quake colors are now available in the pinboard and here.

What's new:
Since there have been some difficulties getting some of the country flags set automatically, you may now choose your self in the user profile. The flag is still set automatically if you don't change that manually.
We added the requested page system for the pinboard and the rankings. And there is now some basic bbcode available in the pinboard also.
No elo ranking is available until it's fixed. This doesn't mean your times won't be saved for the elo ranking, though. Actually all the times ever made in the mDd database are used for the elo system. Elo will come back but not within the next weeks.
The development of the demo upload function is suspend right now. Let's see if the community (thats you) accepts the idea.
Idea:
You scored a time online on our servers and you want to share the demo with other players?
Then you can upload the demo to your profile. You may only upload demos matching to your online times. No offline demos are allowed.
If you are scared about showing your routes just don't use this feature. It's just for providing cool demos to other players.
