what about +strafe for doing diagonal ob's? is that allowed? or is it a gray area or what? it's by default bound to the alt key. and i use it in freestyle alot

The word "Binding" was changed to "Using" a while ago. Outlawing +left/+right wasn't easy because it's not cheat directly. That's why it's not listed as cheat, but as "Not acceptable behaviour". I am sure baning +left and +right was the right thing to do. This way you are not forced to bind it because everybody makes perfect turns.

"+strafe" however is Absolutely OK, not a cheat at all.
No problem there.

New Rule, ready for comment:

"It is not allowed to gain speed without change of position. (No walllingering/Wallbug)"

Note that this does not cover the think17-bug. The player actually is moving in the Z-Axis.

I am intentionally not mention strafing in a wall because you can also use weapons to get faster with this bug.

I hope I don't miss some "natural" phenomenon that we want to keep; Like touching a jumppad. There are trolls out there who bitch about such things.
Maybe we should add "[...] to gain speed over several frames without change [...]".

fyi think17 also has different type of 'think17-bug', where you dont move, while gaining a bag of z ups
the one, used in rec tho .0

there are different cases of being stuck besides corner wb too
for example occasional stuck in curve or non axial brush in some weapon run (like in thirdperson bfg tube)

suggested rule covers too much

Well, it IS the same bug. Of course it's covered. We could however have a reasonable time limit.

How long does it take to get faster using a wallbug than with a regular cj?
1 second?

Well, it IS the same bug. Of course it's covered.


curves provide 3 types of stuck: two ones from think17 and some similar to corner wb one
im not sure what happens with non axial brushes, but z speed is gaining at least in some of them

When will the maps where wb been used be fixed? Will only the wbed times be gone or will the entire map have a reset?
