Actually, no. You don't have to look in these directions. Your velocity has to point into it. In the cgaz hud the velocity is indicated by a large white arrow. That arrow has to point into the right areas.
You dont have to move the mouse that much in halfbeat strafing, BUT your velocity changes direction just like in all the other strafe styles.

I know, but for me it feels easier to keep the particular velocity direction with half-beat strafing.

I propose to update cgaz in next version of defrag

How about combining the two bars into one?
Then it looks just like the regular hud but with strangely moving bars.

The first bar is for the direction you face and the second would be for the direction of your velocity, no ?

Talking about cgaz hud.. it would be also nice to have this 2D variation in defrag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm-dAuXrXus (sorry, couldn't find a better video). I think it's much more easier to understand than the current cgaz hud and could be useful for newbies coming to defrag.

Wondering if there is a way to officially include this into defrag/dfengine nowadays

So this is the reason I sometimes get shit accel at very high speeds? Good to know :)

Does anyone have a link handy for the CPM movement code? I'd like to take a look at it
