dont disable desktop composition. i run it in winxp sp3 compability. and ctrl+shift to select multiple faces works perfectly fine for me too. i though 1.5 was annoying in the beginning too, but after a while you kinda get used to it :P

ye 1.5 is way better than 1.4 ... if u miss the texture grabbing feature from 1.4 its actually a new shortcut.

pick a texture from the 3d view with mouse3 (copy) and then shift+control+mouse3 (paste) on another brush.

also the 3d selection with shift is alot faster than select inside...
gtk 1.4 has probs with brushes that are smaller than 1 unit
better rotate tool (although angle snap would be good)
faster overall (map loading, viewport)
etc...
