You don't have pak0.pk3.

I can't launch dfengine under linux :/

Code: Select all
./dfengine-smp: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And if I make a symlink libpcre.so.3 -> libpcre.so:

Code: Select all
./dfengine-smp: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib32/libpcre.so.3: invalid ELF header

I have gentoo linux and libpcre version 8.30

Is it 32 bit?
If not, recompile.
Quake3bcan only handle 32 bits. Even though the ioquake3 guy magically patched that out, i wouldn't reccomend it.

Use the "file" command to check what kind of elf the lib is.

//EDIT:

it works now, see below, but:

I cant type anything in the console.
And its very dark. Adjusting the brightness via menu doesnt do anything :/

Adjusting in Window mode works?! But not in fullscreen?!?!

Code: Select all
file /usr/lib32/libpcre.so
/usr/lib32/libpcre.so: ASCII text

hm, getting closer:
Code: Select all
cat /usr/lib32/libpcre.so
/* GNU ld script
   Since Gentoo has critical dynamic libraries in /lib, and the static versions
   in /usr/lib, we need to have a "fake" dynamic lib in /usr/lib, otherwise we
   run into linking problems.  This "fake" dynamic lib is a linker script that
   redirects the linker to the real lib.  And yes, this works in the cross-
   compiling scenario as the sysroot-ed linker will prepend the real path.

   See bug http://bugs.gentoo.org/4411 for more info.
 */
OUTPUT_FORMAT ( elf32-i386 )
GROUP ( /lib32/libpcre.so.1 )

Code: Select all
file /lib32/libpcre.so.1.0.0
/lib32/libpcre.so.1.0.0: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped

ah, works now.
Symlinking /usr/lib32/libpcre.so.3 to /lib32/libpcre.so.1.0.0 works. dfengine doesnt like that text file.

What is the /dl_source command to allow the auto downloads to actually happen, someone told me but i didn't save the link.

And is it possible to get the game looking good graphics wise, this looks hundred times worse than QL and I have all the settings on high, I know there's commands you can use that aren't in the options menu but that will be a big hassle to find, if someone has a config I can use that would be good.

To continue downloading maps you have to change the dl_source cvar.
set it to "http://ws.q3df.org/getpk3bymapname.php/%m"

Can't help you with graphics. I am not a gamer.
